Vibe: Cheap and cheerful. This is a simple restaurant on the main road opposite, and a little bit west of, the MTR station. The staff are friendly, but not all of them speak English.
Who to take: The more the merrier. Thai food is made for sharing, and the bigger your group, the more you can order. Lunch gets a bit crowded, but late lunch or early dinner is a good time to go.
 What's hot: The restaurant boasts quite an extensive menu with dishes listed in both English and Chinese. There are photos of some dishes but by no means all of them. 
As in many Thai restaurants, the dishes are not served as appetisers and main courses, but just served as soon as they are ready.
But the menu is divided into sections depending on the type of dish. There are three sections dedicated to soup: noodle soup, coconut milk and chicken and the famous tom yam soups. There are more than a dozen types of tom yam. The popular versions include prawn, mixed seafood and chicken, but here you can order it with beef balls, chicken wings and pork chop. Another difference is that they are served with noodles.
Not feeling too adventurous, we plumped for a good, old-fashioned pad Thai. It was a simple version of the dish with egg, but no other additions. It was pleasant, but not particularly spicy, though you could add some heat thanks to the condiments tray which features chilli in three different forms. It was also a little sweet and could perhaps have benefitted from a little more lime or tamarind.
The green curry with pork, despite boasting two chilli icons for spiciness, was not really as spicy as it should have been, but it was rich and coconutty, and would probably score full marks from those who like their food a little less fiery.
Likewise, the som tam that came with our chicken and pork satay was definitely prepared for those with a more delicate palate.
For dessert, we tried the fresh mango with coconut milk which was cool and refreshing and had the added bonus of pomelo.
 What's not: The tables are quite small and they fill up quickly. Perhaps that's why the square plates are so small.
Cost: Most of the dishes cost between HK$40 and HK$60. Some are even cheaper, and only the seafood dishes and one or two others cost more. Expect to pay about HK$100-HK$120 per person for a good variety of food.
