Bomb hoax grounds plane for two hours

A bomb scare grounded a plane for two hours at Chek Lap Kok airport yesterday. Passengers were evacuated from Shanghai-bound China Eastern Airlines flight MU502 after it was halted on the runway at 12.30pm. Nothing suspicious was found and it left at 2.45pm. It was believed to have been a hoax call.

Two men arrested for indecent assault

Two men were arrested for indecent assault in separate incidents. A 37-year-old man was arrested and charged after he allegedly indecently assaulted a 28-year-old woman at Tai Koo MTR station at about 7am. A man, 73, was arrested outside Ting Fuk House on On Ting Estate, Tuen Mun, at about 8am after a girl, 17, reported being indecently assaulted. He was being held for investigation.

CY Leung urged to act on ethnic minorities early

The education needs of ethnic minorities have been ignored for years, Hong Kong Unison executive director Fermi Wong told a radio audience yesterday, adding that she hoped the new government would propose measures to help children from minorities to learn Cantonese. Wong did not rule out Unison taking legal action against the government for discrimination if it failed to act.

The drivers of a car and taxi were seriously injured when their vehicles collided head-on after the car swerved into the oncoming lane in Cheung Sha Wan.
