It takes a lot to lure Hong Kong's party crowd over the water to Macau on a Saturday night, but the grand opening party for China Rouge did just that. The members-only performance lounge, in the Galaxy Macau, attracted scores of Hong Kong celebrities and socialites.

The concept for the club, designed by Hong Kong-born designer Alan Chan Yau-kin, was inspired by the Parisian cabarets of the 1800s, Shanghai of the 1930s and 'the fabulous women of the decadent era', according to the marketing spiel. The interior design of the space, in which world-class acts will perform for their well-heeled audiences, was influenced by motifs from Chinese literature.

Dutch diva Laura Fygi flew in especially for the March 30-31 opening party to serenade the VIP guests.
