Man sought over attack on mainland woman
Police are seeking a man seen on surveillance footage over an attack on a mainland woman, 28, who was found naked and unconscious in a one-woman brothel on Nga Tsin Wai Road, Kowloon City, on April 4. The woman, believed to be a sex worker, is in a coma at Queen Elizabeth Hospital after being strangled. Anyone with information is urged to contact police on 2761 2348 or 9380 3788.
Legislators vote against proposed hawker system
Lawmakers passed a motion against a proposed system which would see hawkers' licences revoked for offences such as stealing electricity and subletting stalls if it happened six times in three months. More than 40 hawker representatives supported the motion in a Legco panel for food safety and environmental hygiene seeking views on managing fixed-pitch hawker areas.
Off-duty officer arrested for drink driving
An off-duty policeman was arrested for drink driving after his car crashed into a roundabout in Kwai Chung yesterday. His blood-alcohol level was allegedly nearly four times the legal limit, police said. The Kowloon West officer, 31, lost control of his car as he tried to avoid a motorcycle in Mei Ching Road at about 5am. He was treated for head injuries and has been released on bail. He will also face a disciplinary hearing.
