The latest 'it' bag that had everyone talking this week wasn't the creation of a top professional designer, but stylist and street-style photographer Tommy Ton, the man behind the chic blog jakandjil.com. His collaboration with Club Monaco was a collection of two canvas bags - a satchel and a back sac that had the fashion pack quivering with excitement. To launch the bags, Club Monaco hosted a cocktail party at its flagship store in Central on Wednesday at which Ton made an appearance. 'I selfishly designed the bags for myself,' Ton said. 'The design is simple and practical, and I'm happy that other people also like it.' The guests were eager to meet the Canadian photographer. Rather than getting in front of his lens, however, they were more interested in being in the frame with him. In Hong Kong for just a day before flying to Beijing, Ton said he didn't have a chance to take photos of Hong Kong's street-wear heroes. 'It's been work, work, work since I got here. I've got interviews all day. It's all work and no fun [this time],' he said. He also probably didn't have time to take a turn in the photo booth set up for party guests to make stop-motion books of their shots on the spot.
