Gucci's creative director, Frida Giannini, held her first fashion show in China last Saturday, presenting her autumn-winter 2012/13 collection to more than 500 guests in Shanghai.
At the historic Wai Tan Yuan redevelopment, home-grown beauties such as Bonnie Chen Bige, Qin Shupei, Sun Feifei and Xi Mengyao modelled the dark, seductive collection. The flowing dresses in velvet and silk were full of film noir drama.
Giannini also hosted a lunchtime cocktail event to launch the ad campaign starring mainland actress Li Bingbing. Later, a soiree spanning three floors of the Rock Bund featured a performance by English singer-songwriter Bryan Ferry. Exquisite evening gowns from the Florentine house's archives were also on show.
Gucci-clad guests included dual Oscar-winning American actress Hilary Swank, Filipino fashion designer Tamara Falco, Danish model Nadja Bender, American-Taiwanese actress Tiffany Hsu Wei-ning and Taiwanese actor Eddie Peng Yu-yen.
