ALBERTO Tomba is suffering from a badly bruised rib injured during the warmup for Monday's World Cup slalom, but is expected to compete in Sunday's a giant slalom at Val d'Isere in Milan, Italy.

The three-time Olympic champion, who won his second straight slalom of the season at Sestriere, underwent medical examinations after complaining of constant rib pain.
The Italian Ski Federation said doctors diagnosed a badly bruised rib on the left side of Tomba's chest.
