The cross-cultural film “A Rose Reborn” brought by Ermenegildo Zegna and renowned Korean director Park Chan-Wook explores the building of a better world under the guidance of a new generation of leaders.
The story title suggests a metaphorical rebirth from death when read as “arose reborn” with the plot blending in Eastern and Western cultures.  The two characters (Daniel Wu and Jack Huston) visit various significant locations including London, Wyoming, Shanghai and Milan, with each place carrying a distinct meaning of its own.

Starting in London, a metropolitan city with rich history and human culture, Stephen (Huston) seeks to develop his project egg and initiates his journey for a better future.  London, an international financial centre, as well as for arts, fashion and professional service, is now transforming into one of today’s biggest internet communities, gathering tech professionals and investors.  This is also the place he begins to be aware of his own dressing style.

Wyoming is chosen as the setting for the second episode in which Mr Lu (Wu) started the quests for Stephen.  Unlike London, Wyoming is not a cosmopolitan city, but it has a nick name as Equality State with “Equal Rights” as its motto.  This American state shows an open minded attitude parallel to Zegna’s new generation of leadership for building a better future.

The third episode’s location Shanghai has a long history of international trade.  The cosmopolitan city with a nickname as “Paris of the East” or “Paradises for the Adventurers” has long been famous for its openness for opportunities and different cultures.  In this significant place where East meets West and the ancient encounters the modern, Stephen realizes death as a process to rebirth through Eastern philosophical symbols.

The story ends in Milan, but it is not the destination of the gentlemen’s journey.  On the contrary, it turns to be the start of a path of evolution and rebirth into new men.  The city itself stands for renaissance – a leading centre rapidly rebuilt for economy, social and political affairs after seriously affected by World War II.
