The 12th HKAHC Invitational Amateur Ice Hockey Tournament will begin on this Friday at the Kowloon Bay rink.
9 teams will compete for the Gold Cup.
Malaysia will be making its debut appearance in the Tournament. Malaysia Snipers will be sending a mix of experienced and young players to Hong Kong. Their ability is unknown to the other competitors but Tournament Director, Matthew Cheung, warns that “Malaysia has been very aggressive in the past years in developing ice hockey. They have some local talents whom could be dangerous to any team in the tournament”.
Susan Loh, spokesperson of MIHF, says, “This year, the Hong Kong Invitational Amateur Ice Hockey Tournament can expect to watch some exciting games involving the Snipers Team from Malaysia, a new team created by the Malaysian Ice Hockey Federation (MIHF) to provide the exposure of international competitive ice hockey to young players, via participation in overseas tournaments.
There will be a healthy mix of senior players as well as young guns, whose commitment to continuous training and their ‘love the game’ attitudes, will see to it that each member fulfills what is expected of them, i.e. to put in their 100% effort while playing together as a great Team.
Both the Snipers Team as well as the MIHF share a common dream of participating in the 2017 Asia Winter Games in Japan.”
