Fred is a Professor of Government Emeritus, Northeastern University. He studies international relations and political economy, and has previously taught at the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy in the United Arab Emirates and the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California. He was a Fulbright Lecturer in International Relations at the University of Aleppo in Syria in 1992-93, and a Fulbright Lecturer in Political Science at Aden University in Yemen in 2001.
