There are infinite passion and career prospects available to students who think critically, learn diligently, seek truthfully and act sensibly. These distinct attributes form the essence of Chinese YMCA Secondary School’s curriculum and educational platforms. Founded by the Chinese YMCA of Hong Kong in 1961, the school follows the motto “Glorify God and Love Others” and provides top quality education that brings academic excellence and spiritual fulfilment. Chinese YMCA Secondary School also operates under the Direct Subsidy Scheme of the Education Bureau of Hong Kong.
Keen on immersing students in actual industry practices, the school partners with international companies and organisations for conferences and study exchanges. It welcomes more collaborations with educational institutions based on the mainland, and with technology firms specialising in the artificial intelligence (AI) and aerospace fields.
“As an educator, we present students with opportunities to discover passions and to nurture connections outside Hong Kong,” said Frederick Cheung, principal. “Aside from practical courses related to science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), we are focusing more on developing an aerospace STEM programme and centre,” he said.
More than assembling AI robots or setting up software for 3D printers, Chinese YMCA Secondary School would use a flight simulator to conduct courses and develop modules that support the whole aviation industry, including airport operations, traffic control, flight staff management and other activities.
