Hong Kong-born Chan first shot to fame in 1995 after taking part in the New Talent Singing Awards, an annual contest launched in 1982 that has produced famous singers such as Anita Mui Yim-fong, David Lui Fong and Alex To Tak-wai.
Chan won first place with “Moon Gazing”, a Cantonese song originally sung by Jacky Cheung Hok-yau, and subsequently scored a recording contract with Hong Kong label Capital Artists.

Chan’s purchase came on the heels of Taiwanese singer and actor Richie Jen Hsien-chi acquiring a HK$68.8 million flat in Repulse Bay.
Land Registry records showed that the sale and purchase agreement was signed on June 9 for a four-bedroom unit at Belgravia, a low-density luxury development at 57 South Bay Road.
