Hong Kong Monetary Authority chief executive Norman Chan Tak-lam on Thursday led a media tour of the agency’s newly renovated information centre on the 55th floor of Two International Finance Centre in Central. The centre, which covers an area of 136 sq metres, aims to help the general public better understand the operations of the de facto central bank in Hong Kong, the linked exchange rate system, the Exchange Fund and the financial system in the city through interactive presentations and games.

At the tour, Chan demonstrated how to play one of the games at the centre, which is expected to be particularly popular with students. The information centre also houses a piece of artwork whereby 135,811 coins are used to create a picture showing the skyline of Victoria Harbour. The coins comprise all seven denominations currently in circulation in the city. The centre will be open to the public from Friday.
