NewBAIC Motor in China says sales of branded cars up in 2014

Beijing-based carmaker BAIC Motor Corp, which manufactures Hyundai and Mercedes-branded vehicles for the mainland China market through joint-venture agreements, reported an 8.66 per cent rise in sales of Hyundai branded vehicles in 2014 to 1,120,048 and a 25.4 per cent growth in Mercedes Benz sales to 145,468.

Sales in its Beijing Motor vehicles, including proprietary brands such as Senova, BJ and Wevan series, increased 53.08 per cent in 2014 to 309,648, the company said in a filing with the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

All the sales data are unaudited, it added.

The mainland carmaker, part-owned by German giant Daimler, raised about HK$9.9 billion in an initial public offering in Hong Kong last month.
