Aluminum Corp of China, or Chalco, on Thursday night announced revenue fell 5.7 per cent in the first half to 66 billion yuan, but the country’s biggest smelter for the lightweight industrial metal registered an interim net profit of 28 million yuan against net loss of 4.1 billion yuan a year earlier.

The company will still hold to its aim to turn losses into gains for the full year, although challenges in China’s aluminium industry in the second half will still be daunting, it said in a statement to   the Hong Kong stock exchange.
