More students will be given first-hand experience of mainland business operations in a summer programme run by the Chinese University of Hong Kong. The China Career Development Award Programme was first held last year when 171 students attended lectures and received internship training in the Beijing, Guangzhou and Shenzhen areas. This year, the programme will be held in Beijing and Shanghai in July and the number of students involved will increase to 240. First-year students will undertake a four-week course which will give them an insight into current socio-political and economic systems of the mainland. Final-year students will gain experience in local branches of Hong Kong-based companies and public institutions.
