Deliveries of pure electric and plug-in hybrid cars across mainland China plummeted 50 per cent to 206,000 units in the first 12 days of the year compared with the same period in December, according to the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA).

The Biden administration has finalised rules effectively barring the sale of smart cars containing Chinese or Russian technology in the US market, a last push by the outgoing American president to address national security concerns tied to the auto industry.
6. Hong Kong watchdog logged 179 complaints over EVs, charging services in 2024

Hong Kong’s Consumer Council received 179 complaints concerning EVs and charging services last year, with the watchdog noting more recent cases ranged from unclear fee instructions when owners topped up their cars to insufficient spaces at facilities.
7. China’s EVs to see self-driving ‘democratisation’ in 2025, UBS analyst says

Self-driving features will see mass-market adoption in Chinese cars this year, thanks to fierce competition among Chinese electric vehicle (EV) makers that is driving innovation, according to a UBS analyst.
