Shiseido, Watson to debut pollution fighting skincare line in China
- ‘Urban Damage Care’ product line will leverage Japanese expertise in developing high quality skin care products
Japanese cosmetics maker Shiseido and A S Watson Group will begin selling a co-developed line of skincare products for women that is designed to protect against urban pollution, in the mainland from Thursday.
The product line, called “Urban Damage Care” and manufactured in Japan, will “protect women with sensitive skin from the harmful environment and pollution”, according to a joint press release on Tuesday.
Malina Ngai Man-lin, group chief operating officer at A.S. Watson Group, said work on the concept started 18 months ago when she paid a visit to the Shiseido headquarters in Tokyo.
“We shared and exchanged customer insights about the increasing consumer demand for more sophisticated skincare solutions in Asia. Immediately we decided to work together on this common mission to produce an exclusive range for Watson’s customers,” Ngai said in the statement.
The company said it was inspired by the increasing number of Japanese brands developing high quality skin care products, noting that the market in Asia is dominated by brands from France and the US.
The Urban Damage Care product line includes make-up remover, facial cleanser, lotion, emulsion, essence and cream.
