New | China’s spot yuan stable as PBOC sets benchmark rate at weaker level

The yuan was almost unchanged on Friday morning as China’s central bank set the midpoint rate at a weaker level.

The onshore yuan was unchanged at 6.2068 as of 11 am, while the offshore yuan strengthened 0.01 per cent, or 5 basis points, to 6.2115.

The People’s Bank of China set the midpoint rate of renminbi against the US dollar at 6.1167, 17 pips weaker than a day earlier.

The Hong Kong dollar was unchanged at 7.7523 against the greenback. The dollar index added 0.05 per cent to 95.024.
