Daiwa Capital Markets said that most mainland banks saw the slowest quarterly loan expansion in the third quarter, due mainly to weak demand from property-related borrowers, lenders' cautious risk appetite given the slowdown of the mainland's economy and rising asset quality issues at the banks. Given that the fourth quarter is usually the low season for new loan disbursements, Daiwa said it expects this trend to continue in the coming months.
