Also vetting US presidential candidate Mitt Romney Wednesday morning during the live broadcast of his second debate with Barack Obama was popular opinion leader among China's far left, Sima Nan, who wrote on his Sina Weibo microblog account:
Obama says Romney's Bain Capital continues to invest in China, so I'm interested to know in which areas this corporation is invested, how much has been invested, and what route was taken to bring in this investment. Who are the Chinese partners?
Romney rebutted by saying that Obama also has investments in China, which is even more interesting. Where in China is Obama investing? Who are his local partners? These things shouldn't be confidential, right?
According to the New York Times, Bain Capital has made at least one major investment in China, for a stake in leading appliance maker Gome Electrical Applicances worth between US$233-432 million (HK$ 1.806-3.349 billion).
