August 25: Jin Liqun named president-elect of AIIB; Mass murderer suspect arrested in Hunan

Authorities have released strategic plans for the integrated development of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei over the next 15 years, turning the neighbouring areas into a megalopolis. Beijing will remain the nation's centre for politics and culture. Tianjin will be a pilot zone for advanced manufacturing and economic reform, while Hebei will serve as a key base for trade and logistics. ()
