Hollywood glitz comes to the Tokyo Film Festival as Tom Hanks, Robert de Niro and Francis Ford Coppola - with his daughter Sofia Ford Coppola - arrive for one of Asia's largest movie celebrations. A US$50,000 top prize is up for grabs, with movies from around the world competing. The nine-day event begins today with the screening of Hong Kong horror flick directed by Juno Mak, in the Asian Future category.

 

Chief Executive Leung Chun-ying will attend at a potentially fiery question and answer session in the Legislative Council today. He is expected to be grilled by lawmakers on his handling of the Manila hostage tragedy and free-TV licences. Meanwhile, Ricky Wong Wai-kay, whose Hong Kong Television Network was not granted a free-TV licence by the government, will appear on radio in the morning before giving a lecture on free TV at Chinese University.
