British investigator Peter Humphrey and his China-born American wife Yu Yingzeng face trial in a Shanghai court for illegally obtaining personal information about Chinese nationals. They were hired by pharmaceutical giant GlaxoSmithKline to investigate the leaking of information relating to corruption in the company. The British and US consulates in Shanghai are following the case closely. The couple's son was allowed to visit them last week.
Foreign ministers with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations begin three days of talks that will also be attended by top diplomats from China, Japan, the United States and Russia. The talks in the Myanmar capital of Naypyidaw continue until Sunday. The theme of the summit is "moving forward in unity to a peaceful and prosperous community". However, disputes over China's claims to the South China Sea are likely to dominate the meeting.
