Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop hosts talks in Sydney with US Secretary of State John Kerry and Defence Secretary Chuck Hagel. They will discuss bilateral issues, including defence and security cooperation, as well as disputes in the South China Sea, Iraq and Ukraine. The two sides will also sign an agreement on the deployment of US Marines to Australia. Both Bishop and Kerry attended the weekend Association of Southeast Asian Nations meetings in Myanmar.
Foreign ministers from the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation hold an emergency meeting at the group's headquarters in Jeddah. They will discuss the situation in Gaza, which came under Israeli attack after militants fired rockets into the Jewish state. The meeting will be chaired by Saudi Foreign Minister Saud al-Faisal. Also attending will be Palestinian Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah.
