A group of legal professionals holds a silent gathering outside the High Court to highlight the importance of the rule of law in light of the Occupy Central movement. They are particularly worried that the rule of law has been challenged through the occupation of government land and non-compliance with recent injunctions to vacate occupied areas. The lawyers will present a statement on the issue to Justice Secretary Rimsky Yuen Kwok-keung or his representative.
The pro-government New People's Party submits its proposals for the forthcoming policy address to Chief Executive Leung Chun-ying. It is an annual ritual for political parties to present their wish lists to the chief executive. However, this year pan-democrat parties are boycotting the event because they are angry over developments relating to political reform. Leung will present his policy address to the Legislative Council in mid-January.
