A Hong Kong High Court judge delivers his ruling on whether internet entrepreneur Kim Dotcom can regain control of HK$330 million which was seized by customs officers in January 2012 in connection with a US attempt to prosecute him for alleged copyright fraud. The case relates to the operations of his Megaupload website, which allowed users to share music and films. Dotcom is fighting extradition to the US from New Zealand, where he now lives. He formerly lived here.
The Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre hosts a talk by Court of Final Appeal non-permanent judge Lord Hoffman on the rule of law in the context of international arbitration. Lord Hoffman is a retired law lord of England and Wales and is a practising arbitrator and mediator. The Hong Kong centre was set up in 1985 to provide a less costly means to settle commercial and personal disputes.
