She ended the reign of 10-time champion Reanne Evans in the semi-final, then beat Emma Bonney 6-2 in the final after the English player had beaten another Hong Kong star, Jaique Ip Wan-in, in the other semi. Ng's victory puts her in an elite club that includes windsurfer Lee Lai-shan and cyclist Sarah Lee Wai-sze as Hong Kong world champions.
Guangdong's governor welcomed Hong Kong investors to set up businesses at the official launch of the province's new free-trade zone. Two other zones opened simultaneously in Tianjin and Fujian , joining the existing one in Shanghai. Zhu said the zone included more than 6,500 businesses in the 116 sq km area.
