Are Trump’s trade tariffs a secret weapon for American businesses?
I disagree with your correspondent, Benjamin J. Hayford (“US is open for business, never mind Trump”, March 25) on his reading of President Donald Trump’s trade war, saying China should not mistake one man’s recklessness as an indication that American businesses share his belief.
US trade veterans are all vividly familiar with their counterparts’ business tricks, such as accusations of poor labour conditions, violations of environmental protection rules, and not complying with specifications, when payment is due.
The tariffs claim is certainly a hidden weapon to slash due payment in a business set-up, claiming our president has already warned you openly.
