As a regular visitor to the Hong Kong Sevens, I was disgusted by the blatant abuse of the taxi contracts by an endless stream of taxis outside the Hong Kong Stadium, with “out of service” signs up but touting to take people to Central for HK$300 (meter price about HK$50).

Police outside the stadium seemed reluctant to order the taxis to adhere to their contractual obligations and turned a blind eye.

What a terrible advertisement for Hong Kong taxis in general and what an appalling way to treat visitors who are one of the most important sources of income for the city. Shame on all those taxi drivers who resorted to this contemptible action.
