I have been assisting a young man who has been unsuccessfully trying to be accepted as a genuine asylum seeker for the past six years. He has lived in virtual poverty trying to start a new life. He is desperate to have vaccinations before he is sent back to his old country. There are thousands of people like him in Hong Kong, despite the fact that Hong Kong is very averse to accommodating these unfortunate people. My letter is not intended to address that issue, unfair as it is. But they are human beings. They struggle every day just to survive and they live and move among us. If they were to be allowed vaccinations, we would all be much safer, as well as them. It is well known that every day there are vacancies for vaccinations in virtually all the Covid stations. At the end of each day, unused serum is destroyed because it has been exposed to room temperature for too long. What possible problem would Hong Kong encounter if it were to vaccinate these people?
