Our local pharmacist yesterday offered my wife and me Pfizer shots for Covid-19, but we insisted on taking AstraZeneca.

The British team behind the safe and effective AstraZeneca jab did it for science and the public good, not for profit. In return, they have received nothing but grief, criticisms and potential lawsuits.

My wife and I are perfectly fine. In a recent interview, the AstraZeneca production manager was asked whether he would do it again.

“Not in a million years,” was his bitter reply. Well, not that it means much, but my wife and I just want to say thank you, AstraZeneca.

You guys deserve the Nobel Peace Prize.

Which brings me to Big Pharma. Pfizer expects to earn a whopping US$26 billion from its Covid-19 vaccine this year. It’s also up in arms against the latest decision by the Joe Biden White House to support waiving vaccine patents under World Trade Organization rules. For a moment, I thought, well done, Joe!
