Editorial | Hong Kong must remain at peace in time of war
- Emotions may be running high globally over the conflict in Gaza, but communities in Hong Kong need not let it divide them

World leaders are not the only ones struggling to respond to spiralling violence in the Middle East. Millions of individuals in communities around the globe, including in Hong Kong, are also grappling with high emotions sparked by recent events.
The coordinated assault by Hamas militants and retaliatory Israeli air strikes on Gaza, home to more than 2 million Palestinians, have already claimed too many innocent lives on both sides.
Tuesday’s explosion at a Gaza hospital that killed hundreds of Palestinian patients and civilians sheltering there has fuelled further anger with Israel and Hamas blaming missile strikes by each other for the tragedy.
The latest violence has complicated peace efforts, and although US President Joe Biden visited Israel, Arab leaders pulled out of a meeting with him in Jordan following the hospital carnage.
Protests and bloody incidents linked to the war have taken place in North America, Europe and parts of Asia.
