I would have responded about the recent murders in Hong Kong solely due to environmental reason. HK is a highly dense city where a family of four plus a domestic helper all housed in an area of about 40 square meters. The nature of those murders being so horrible in execution against close related members I would say there is something more than lack of living space. I noticed in 1997, how electronic war games were an affectation to those in the 20s up in Hong Kong.
They would take lunch break from work and went for war game in those game parlors (even located in Central District so to be near to the office workers). Then too, years passed even children in mainland China started engrossed in war games with animated objects. These war games all have one objective -- killing your opponents. The most horrible part is that it is so easy at a click of a computer mouse.
There is no reason to refute that those killings in HK have had no relationship with how those young people being so immersed in those war games. I suspect many parents are aware of what their children are up to but just as numbed by the impulsive behavior at the click of a mouse.
