The need for greater energy efficiency is driving industries worldwide to move from traditional light sources to light-emitting diode (LED) technologies. As today's markets increasingly demand more efficient yet economical lighting solutions, Flip Chip Opto is helping manufacturers accelerate production development through breakthrough LED designs and applications. Understanding the need of industrial and commercial companies for lighting products that reduce power consumption and improve heat output while following stringent regulatory requirements, Flip Chip Opto develops LED lighting solutions that are centred on managing thermal resistance. Its 3-Pad LED flip chip technology, launched this year, converts energy loss from heat into photons to produce a light output that is 70 to 150 per cent brighter than conventional LED lights. The patented technology extends the life of LED products and offers savings to manufacturers by removing the need for cooling solutions and decreasing material wastage. "We want to inspire the world with better and affordable lights," says Chang Han, president. The company's tailored lighting solutions illuminate stadiums, airports, military compounds, small sports facilities and other areas that need high-powered lighting sources. Its breakthrough technology has spawned other applications, such as LED solutions for car headlights and projector lights, and can be migrated into ultraviolet light applications in the packaging and medical industries. It is also keen on providing LED chip-on-boards to light manufacturers serving the broadcasting industry. With China becoming a mecca for global production sites, Flip Chip Opto views Asia as a priority market. It reaches out to companies via trade shows and welcomes investment partnerships. To augment its research facilities in the Silicon Valley and fabrication site in Taiwan, the company will open plants in South Korea and Shenzhen this year. "Having our footprint in Asia is critical, so we're investing a lot of resources in the region," Han says. "With the right partnerships, we can deliver solutions faster to the world and produce more energy savings." Flip Chip Opto http://www.fcopto.com
