Despite the old adage that “beauty is more than skin-deep”, engaging in personal skin care is a healthy practice that could certainly amplify one’s allure. Choosing the most effective cosmetics to do the job is key – whether it is in preventing and reducing wrinkles, fighting inflammatory conditions or supporting skin growth.

Making countless breakthroughs through intense research and development (R&D), NEXGEN Biotechnologies revolutionises the skin care industry, manufacturing speciality proteins used in high-end skin care products and pharmaceutical industries.

Celebrating its 21st anniversary since its establishment in Daejeon, South Korea, NEXGEN has tremendously contributed to the growth of the skin care industry domestically and internationally through its frontier genetic engineering technology, developed by its best-in-class team of in-house R&D experts.

“Our staff is the most important part of our survival,” says Dr Sun Lee, founder, president and CEO. “They are smart, enthusiastic and they have focused their know-how on constant R&D for many years. We have a very exceptional team.”

Empowered by its forward-focused mentality, NEXGEN developed non-toxic superhero proteins that show stronger cell proliferation and anti-oxidation properties compared with other active ingredients in cosmetics. This was accomplished by combining the epidermal growth factor of humans with peptides through recombinant technology in a category of genetic engineering from the genetic source of scorpions, spiders and jellyfish. The company has since created an array of different interspecies hybrid proteins patented in the United States, Japan, South Korea and Europe that can be applied in creams, facial exfoliators, lotions, mask packs and other cosmetics.

NEXGEN also offers options that are preservative-free products, such as TOMAHAWK, a micro-needle product that contains spider venom-EGF hybrid protein called Aratox for anti-ageing benefits; TESLA and Phantom mask, a moisturising lotion and three-step separated mask pack containing an artificial spider fibre protein; and iGEN bioPG, a sterilised skin oil artificially designed to mimic body fat that is safe for infants and pregnant women.

Dedicated to embodying the pinnacle of true innovation, the company is now developing more than 100 different kinds of proteins and next-generation specialised hybrid proteins, catering to the needs of various skin care and cosmetics companies.

As the company continues to expand and share its novel solutions to meet the demands of the ever-modernising health and beauty sectors, NEXGEN seeks to form partnerships with pharmaceutical companies, top-tier spas and beauty salons, and high-net-worth individuals across Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, South Korea and the Americas.

“We have focused on R&D for more than 15 years,” Lee says. “We have accumulated many technologies, skills and new materials. I would like to share these new technologies with everyone.”
