Found nearly everywhere, from industrial pipes to flooring, furniture, electronics, clothing, footwear and health care equipment, polyvinyl chloride (PVC) continues to find breakthrough applications in more sustainable, eco-friendly ways. Asia’s unrelenting growth is driving production – and innovations – faster than ever, and equally persistent players such as PVC and chemicals specialist Thai Plastic Industries are levelling up their expertise to meet the region’s evolving requirements.

Ahead of anticipated firmer industry regulations in Thailand and Asia, Thai Plastic Industries aims to gradually transition to lead-free production while continuously creating innovative yet competitively priced PVC stabilisers and chemicals. It offers eco-friendly calcium-based stabilisers and customises products such as metallic stearate to clients’ stringent standards through its own research and development centre.

“Despite growing our annual total production since we started in 1945, we are still able to customise for every client”

“The balance between the quality of our portfolio, our prices and our services is second to none,” says Makwan Chailertborisuth, director. “Despite growing our annual total production since we started in 1945, we are still able to customise for every client.”

Finished products, including PVC transparent sheets and PVC flooring, account for about 85 per cent of revenues, while the rest goes to manufacturers who reprocess PVC in the plastic industry and in construction and consumer goods. With a network covering more than 20 cities across Thailand, Thai Plastic Industries also exports to Southeast Asia, the Americas, Africa and the Middle East. It sees Indonesia and Vietnam among strong growth areas, and eyes North Africa and Myanmar for expansion.

The company welcomes new partners with established networks particularly distributors looking to grow with Thai Plastic Industries as it pursues more markets. It is also exploring new products such as paint driers, which will diversify its portfolio and reinforce its upstream capability.

“Scaling up to international standards is a big priority in the next few years,” Chailertborisuth says. “We will keep doing what we do exceptionally well – and soon become even more competitive globally.”
