VCON’s innovations boost construction and architecture developments
Thai construction materials specialist VCON Group seeks partners, having built an enviable record in prestige projects
In a street lined with angular buildings, the EmQuartier Mall in the Phrom Phong district is a commanding architectural marvel that captivates all eyes with its pristine facade and asymmetrical structure. The soft curves that give the building its distinct look are made possible by the expertise of construction materials specialist VCON GROUP.
VCON’s glass fibre reinforced concrete (GRC) panels were used in the construction of EmQuartier. Pushing the boundaries of contemporary design, VCON’s durable and flexible GRC panels can be moulded into almost any shape and colour, giving architects greater freedom to create avant-garde designs.
The company strictly complies with international standards to manufacture its products. VCON’s main product is hollow-core slab precast concrete, and the company has produced more than 29 million square metres of the material. VCON also offers wire mesh, piles, precast concrete and blocks. With its experience as a provider of key building blocks in Bangkok’s hotels, schools, malls and factories, VCON eyes more projects in Asia to further
encourage construction of catastrophe-resistant structures. The company also promotes sustainability, encouraging clients to use more concrete and
lesser wood.
“We want to help safeguard building integrity for the long term,” says vice-president Rayaporn Chaichanavong.
VCON opened its first overseas factory in Cambodia on December 5. With the addition of the Cambodia factory to its three existing plants in Thailand, VCON is ready to take on more projects in the region, possibly with local partners.
