Katy Perry will perform at AsiaWorld-Expo on March 30.

Katy Perry will perform in Hong Kong in 2018 for first time as part of her Witness tour

After Perry skipped the city during her last Asia tour in 2015, her fans will be relieved to know the superstar will be performing at AsiaWorld-Expo on March 30. Other Asian concerts include Tokyo, Taipei, Singapore and Bangkok

US pop star Katy Perry will finally be making her debut performance in Hong Kong in March next year.

Perry last toured Asia in 2015 during her Prismatic World Tour, but skipped Hong Kong in favour of two shows at Macau’s Venetian Macao.

Today, the Asia leg of her current Witness: The Tour was announced, and it includes a date at AsiaWorld-Expo on March 30. Also announced were shows in Tokyo (March 27, 28), Taipei (April 4), Singapore (April 8), Bangkok (April 10) and Jakarta (April 14).

The tour is being held in support of Perry’s latest album, Witness, released in June this year. The organiser of the Hong Kongconcert says the tour “is an imaginative trip from outer space to inner space, from the planets to the bottom of our oceans, and a musical journey through Katy Perry’s biggest milestones and mega hits, right up to her latest album”.

Her latest tour is in support of her fifth album, Witness.

During her previous Asia tour, Perry caused controversy by wearing a sunflower dress during a concert at the Taipei Arena in Taiwan.

Many observers saw her attire as a statement supporting the Taiwanese anti-China protesters who had used the sunflower symbol as part of their campaign the year before.
