The all-conquering boy band One Direction broke millions of young – and old – female hearts across the world when they went on an indefinite hiatus in 2016.

However, the pain has been eased for fans, with members of the group – Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik – having launched solo careers since, with varying degrees of success.

Styles seems to be faring better than most of his bandmates as a solo artist, moving in a more rock-oriented direction and seeing his debut solo album hit the top of the US charts last year.
