Kids react to Clockenflap acts – from Khalid to David Byrne

  • We played music from acts appearing at Hong Kong’s biggest music festival to local children
  • The festival runs this weekend and will feature about 100 acts spread over five stages

The Clockenflap festival is not just for grown-ups; it’s one of the highlights of the year for many kids too.

This weekend’s event is being headlined by many huge stars of the 1980s and ’90s – such as David Byrne from US new-wave giants Talking Heads and Jarvis Cocker from 1990s Britpop band Pulp – as well as some hot current artists such as rising American R&B star Khalid and Wolf Alice, the British rockers who won this year’s UK Mercury Music Prize.

We asked some Hong Kong children what they thought about some of the main acts playing at this year’s festival. Perhaps not surprisingly, they were more familiar with the contemporary acts, although the older artists also got most of the youngsters moving.

Keep an eye out for these young Clockenflappers at the festival, which runs from this Friday to Sunday at the Central Harbourfront Event Space.
