Sammy Chan is the chief concierge of Grand Hyatt Macau and vice-president of the concierge network Les Clefs d’Or Macau. He has worked in the hospitality industry in Hong Kong and Macau for more than a decade, and his extensive knowledge of the area ensures that he always has a recommendation for great places to eat in Macau’s diverse and ever-growing dining scene.

1. I love to visit this cosy café near the Ruins of St. Paul’s cathedral which offers some of Macau’s most iconic food, namely the pork-chop bun and the thick toast with egg omelet - they are definitely worth trying. And of course, don’t miss out on its unique coffee or milk tea, brewed in a clay pot over a charcoal fire.

2. Elsewhere in Macau, I like San Iek Mei Sek. My favourite dishes there are the pig bone hot pot and the mixed pork chop. Every once in a while, the owner will enrich the menu with creativity and innovation, plus there’s friendly service and warm hospitality. I think these are reasons why this is a preferred restaurant when compared with other local eateries.
