This week, we’re departing slightly from our usual line-up to highlight happenings on Wednesday, as Hong Kong sees a lull in nightlife events this Thursday and Friday. The reason though is that the city is getting ready to host its first ever edition of World’s 50 Best Bars, taking place on October 8.
To kick things off this weekend, Honky Tonks Tavern is hosting a Pan-American Party on Saturday as one of the first 50 Best Signature Sessions as part of the awards – before guest shifts and visiting bars dominate Hong Kong’s bar scene for a solid week. (Watch out for our upcoming guide to the best shifts to check out.)
In the meantime, Zzura has rescheduled its fourth anniversary party to this week, and The Pontiac has launched a new menu in celebration of its 10 years as one of Hong Kong’s most iconic dive bars.

Zzura turns 4

What: It’s National Day – the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China – but the day off is all the more reason to leg it to Zzura as it celebrates four years in Soho. Originally set to take place last week but rescheduled due to Super Typhoon Ragasa, Zzura is celebrating its anniversary with a bang as four guest bars take over the space: Socio, C108, Bar Oasis and Friday After Class.
