As February’s first weekend rolls in, the city’s afternoons are made for lingering – whether over stone-milled matcha cruffins and velvety lattes in Sai Ying Pun, or a flan-tastic afternoon tea in Tsim Sha Tsui – before closing the weekend with a unique Italian twist on the classic British roast dinner, high above Admiralty.

This guide has all you need for a long and leisurely weekend, filled with delicious bites ahead of the Lunar New Year celebrations.

Get your Friday afternoon matcha fix at Aokomi, Hong Kong’s first in-store stone mill matcha specialist. Opened in Sai Ying Pun, the matcha experts grind fresh Uji tencha leaves (ungrounded tea leaves) into fine powder for an authentic “tencha-to-matcha” experience of depth and aroma.

The menu spotlights single-cultivar velvet and straight matcha – which is hand-harvested from natural, untrimmed bushes per the shizen-shitate method – alongside signatures like the proprietary Komi matcha latte, innovative Ao-cano (a spin on the Americano in the form of tea-infused water with a matcha base), strawberry matcha cappuccino, and hojicha oat brew, paired with light bites such as tencha pistachio nut butter on sourdough, Cantabrian anchovies on soft-boiled egg, and silky matcha pudding.
