Running lingerie boutique Sheer, Lisa Cheng is an expert in empowering women with her itsy-bitsy lacy goodies.

To extend the women-helping-women spirit to underprivileged girls, she and Lynette Ong of jeweller Edge of Ember co-hosted a charity fundraiser on Saturday at the Shore restaurant and bar in Central.

Over 300 guests raised money for three charities in Cambodia and Nepal that help rescue and rehabilitate victims of sex trafficking.

"I feel the cause especially speaks to me because I'm in the lingerie business and it's all about empowering women and in celebration of women," Cheng said. "And sex trafficking is totally the opposite. We understand our self-worth and I hope one day those women can feel the way we feel."

About HK$100,000 was raised for the charities AFESIP, Daughters of Cambodia, and Shakti Samuha to provide shelter, food, clothing and skills training for women as they make their way outside the sex trade.

Being a woman entrepreneur wasn't always easy, Cheng said.
