The movers, shakers and glamourati of Hong Kong's Indian community turned out in force to pledge their support for the world's less fortunate, mixing and mingling at this year's Grand Ball hosted by the Young Executive Group (YEG), an organisation formed in 1964 to assist the city's enterprising Indians and still going strong.
As per its reputation, YEG pulled out all the stops on Friday night at the Four Seasons Hotel with a multi-course feast, live music, jaw-dropping celebrity guests and one very lucrative live auction. All the fun was for a good cause, with money raised going to City of Joy Aid, a Calcutta charity helping that city's impoverished and at-risk residents.
But let's get back to those guests. Bollywood fans who did not attend will be kicking themselves: Abhishek Bachchan, the frenzy-inducing film star and producer, made a guest appearance. And, if you prefer to follow rising political stars, Indian consul general Gaddam Dharmendra was also on hand.
How to top a night like that? Well, someone did win a trip to Boracay from the auction.
