What I’m listening to: Radio Nostalgie, a French radio station that specialises in oldies from the 1960s to the 1980s. And classical music from several radio stations.

What I’m reading: Soumission by French writer Michel Houellebecq about what France is like in 2022 when a brilliant Muslim from a fictional religious fraternity becomes head of state. Changes in laws, an end to equality between men and women, legalising polygamy, and many other changes. Plus Only the Paranoid Survive by Andrew Grove is always on my bedside.

What I’m watching: I travel a lot, so I always get the latest movies on longdistance flights. I didn’t like Birdman at all, but I loved Whiplash and 50 Shades of Grey. I’m also a fan of Downton Abbey, which I watch over and over again for the elegance of the era and the dialogue. But my favourite movie is Being There, one of Peter Sellers’ last movies. It is about a simple-minded gardener who had never left the property in which he worked and whose only contact with the outside world is the television. Then his benefactor dies and he has to leave his comfort zone and face the world.

What artists I’m following: Wallace Chan, Joel Rosenthal (JAR), and Asian contemporary artists who have become household names in the past five years.
