The Spa at Four Seasons Hong Kong has launched a series of treatments and products from London's organic skincare brand The Organic Pharmacy. Developed by the husband-and-wife team Margo and Francesco Marrone, the brand uses products made from pharmaceutical grade plants. The Organic Pharmacy signature facial is an ideal way to assess the repertoire of products. A lifting, firming and cell regenerating treatment, it cleanses, exfoliates, steams, extracts and replenishes your skin with nutrients using a combination of products with an acupressure massage. After a brief consultation, I am ushered into the spa's Quartz room - an urbane haven with massive windows with a panoramic view of the harbour. I begin by breathing in the calming aroma of jasmine bath oil. A melting carrot butter cleanser envelops me with scents of carrot, rosemary, lavender and shea butter. Then a rose herbal toner washes off any impurities. Next is exfoliation with a flower petal mask, with none of the usual sloughing or rigorous scrubbing. Instead, the mask - containing oats, milk, clay, rose, chamomile and lavender - is applied using a light circular motion and rhythmic pumping action to lift dead cells. Turning the facial steamer on, the therapist massages and kneads my tired feet and legs with rose hip oil. Buffed and polished (after blackhead extraction), a deep cleansing face mask is applied in layers. It contains clay, seaweed and aloe vera. A facial massage follows — the therapist splashes on rose serum and glides two rose crystals across my face and neck, massaging smoothly to stimulate blood and lymphatic circulation. Then there is a nourishing honey and jasmine mask, a firm massage of the shoulders, décolletage and jawline, and a light hand and arm massage with rose hip oil. The facial concludes with an anti-ageing collagen boost mask, an "instant lift" antioxidant firming serum, and a scalp massage. The finishing touches include eye and lip cream and a double rose rejuvenating face cream. I leave feeling energised and relaxed. An olfactory treat, the products douse you with their gorgeous natural fragrances and smooth textures, without stripping or weighing your skin down. Even after being swathed and daubed with several face masks and other products, my skin feels invigorated. I'd recommend this unisex treatment to anyone looking for a chemical-free facial. The Organic Pharmacy 90-minute facial costs HK$2,100 on weekdays and HK$2,300 on weekends.
