Five Easter events in Hong Kong to keep the kids happy over the holidays

The Easter holiday weekend is upon us and for families who are not leaving town for the four-day break, there is plenty to do in the city, from egg hunting in the sand to creating your own Easter-themed accessories.

Here are five kid-friendly events that you may want to check out.

1. Egg hunting on the beach

Up to 30,000 prizes are up for grabs at the Tai Pak Beach Easter hunt in Discovery Bay. Children aged three to 10 can search for “Eight Grand Eggs” and win special prizes worth up to HK$9,000 in total.

Different age groups (aged 3-4, 5-6 and 7-10) will have respective game sessions. Participants need to either register online through Cityline with an administration fee of HK$200 each, or reserve an “Easter Fun Package” at Auberge Discovery Bay Hong Kong where a pass will be included in each package booked. All participants will receive a welcome goodies bag and a certificate of excellence.

An ‘Egg Tart’ soap making workshop will take place at Tsuen Wan Plaza.

2. ‘Egg tart’ soap making workshop

Tsuen Wan Plaza is organising Eggciting Eaters events, including fun photo shooting areas with egg-shaped 3D clouds, big Tsum Tsum pinball machines and a special “egg tart” soap making workshop. Participants should present no more than two receipts on a purchase of HK$600 or above for a ticket.

April 19-22, 2pm-3pm or 4pm-5pm at the Atrium on the L1 floor of Tsuen Wan Plaza

3. DIY Easter accessories workshop

With the help of an expert instructor, kids can learn how to make an Easter basket and headband using products from retail store chain Smiggle. Every family taking part will receive a Smiggle welcome gift voucher. At the end of the workshop, the instructor will pick out the best one and the winner will receive a family skating package worth HK$280 and a Smiggle gift voucher worth HK$600.

4. Egg-Nosaurs

Harbour City has transformed its atrium in the Ocean Terminal into an enchanting and imaginative “Egg-Nosaurs” park. Kids can follow the footsteps of life-size dinosaurs and take part in the “Egg-Nosaurs Challenge” including “Egg Hunt”, “Egg Delivery” and “Egg Hatch” for a chance to win a prize. It is open to children aged three to 10 years old. Participants need to either show a receipt on a same-day single purchase of HK$200 or above, or donate HK$40 to The Community Chest of Hong Kong.

5. Easter Adventure featuring Kingdom Hearts III

Sony PlayStation has set up a demo zone at the Moko shopping mall in Mong Kok showcasing its recent popular title Kingdom Hearts III, which features new Disney characters from movies such as Toy Story and Frozen. Players can try their hands on the action role-playing game, which comes with traditional Chinese subtitles.

The zone also includes the Kingdom Hearts III virtual reality experience featuring highlights from the series’ history.
