With the release of Avengers: Endgame this week, summer season has arrived in earnest. From now until the end of August, cinemas will be packed with the biggest, most audacious movie spectacles Hollywood has to offer.

Pokemon Detective Pikachu
The Pokemon phenomenon finally arrives in Hollywood, with this bizarre, high-concept collaboration based on the successful video game of the same name.
Ryan Reynolds stars as the voice of Pikachu, a wisecracking, coffee-addled detective in the Ryme City Police Department. When his human partner goes missing, the diminutive yellow fuzzball teams up with his son (Justice Smith), who inexplicably can understand him.
Together they set out to solve the mystery, in a neon-drenched adventure that looks to evoke everything from Who Framed Roger Rabbit to Alien Nation. (Opens May 9)
